TradeGroove Safety and Meetup Guidelines
Last updated: June 26, 2026
Effective date: June 26, 2026
TradeGroove helps users discover and arrange trades, but users are responsible for their own decisions, items, meetups, and interactions. TradeGroove does not supervise meetups, run background checks, inspect items, verify identity, guarantee item safety, or guarantee user behavior.
If you are in immediate danger or believe a crime is happening, call local emergency services first.
1. Before You Trade
- Review the listing carefully, including photos, condition, description, value range, and location.
- Ask questions in the app before meeting.
- Confirm what each person is bringing.
- Check whether the item is recalled, counterfeit, illegal, damaged, unsafe, or prohibited.
- Do not trade if the other user pressures you, changes the deal repeatedly, refuses basic questions, or asks you to ignore TradeGroove rules.
- Keep communication in the app until you are comfortable sharing other contact details.
2. Choosing a Meetup Location
- Meet in a public, well-lit, active place.
- Prefer designated safe-exchange zones, police-station exchange areas, bank lobbies, busy coffee shops, community centers, or similar public locations.
- Avoid private homes, secluded parking lots, isolated storage units, hotel rooms, or unfamiliar private spaces.
- Meet during daylight or business hours when possible.
- Do not invite strangers into your home unless you have independently decided the risk is acceptable.
3. Bring Support
- Tell someone where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be done.
- Consider bringing another adult.
- Keep your phone charged and accessible.
- Arrange your own transportation so you can leave when you choose.
4. Inspect the Item
- Inspect the item before completing the trade.
- Check serial numbers, brand markings, safety labels, recall notices, accessories, chargers, batteries, and condition where relevant.
- Test electronics or moving parts when practical.
- Do not trade for an item if you believe it is stolen, counterfeit, recalled, hazardous, misrepresented, or unsafe.
5. Protect Personal Information
- Do not share your home address, financial account information, passwords, verification codes, Social Security number, government ID, or other sensitive information in listings or messages.
- Be cautious with links, QR codes, payment requests, shipping requests, and requests to move communication off platform.
- Report phishing, suspicious payment instructions, threats, or pressure tactics.
6. Red Flags
Consider canceling, leaving, or reporting if a user:
- Refuses to answer basic questions.
- Changes the meetup location to an isolated place.
- Pressures you to rush or ignore safety steps.
- Offers a trade that seems too good to be true.
- Brings a different item than described.
- Asks for passwords, codes, bank information, or unrelated personal data.
- Threatens, harasses, discriminates, or retaliates.
7. After the Trade
- Use ratings honestly and only for real interactions.
- Report safety issues, scams, prohibited items, counterfeit goods, or policy violations.
- Keep records in the app if a dispute may arise.
- If you later discover a serious safety issue or recall, stop using the item and follow appropriate official guidance.
8. TradeGroove's Role
TradeGroove may provide safety features such as email or phone verification, reports, blocks, moderation, listing review, prohibited-term checks, ratings, and account restrictions. These features reduce risk but do not eliminate it. You remain responsible for your personal safety, item inspection, legal compliance, and trade decisions.
